Poems, mostly playful

I don’t write poetry often, but every once in a while something comes to me. A couple years ago, I decide to post some of my favorites on Medium.com, which was easy enough to do, except they had a rule. You had to accompany each posting with an image.

My first reaction was: No way! A poem should stand on its own, just with its words.

But what could I do? It was images or nothing. So I tried it and it was fun. And it still is now that I’m making my own collection. I’ve spent happy hours looking through hundreds of photos on Shutterstock, Pixabay, Pexels, and Unslpash, trying to find just the right image, or something close to it.

Most of my poems are playful which gives me a break from how serious my other writing is. Although looking back, I notice that sometimes my most serious writing has an undercurrent of playfulness.

Here’s a menu of my poems in case you want to check them out.
